FAO Agricultural Machinery Supply in Moldova (2024)

Client: FAO – UNGM Procurement | Project Code: 2024/FEUKR/125620
Location: Moldova
Year: 2024
Scope: Supply of agricultural machinery with training and commissioning

Challenge

In the wake of regional instability and rising food insecurity, the FAO launched support programs to strengthen local agricultural systems in Moldova. Mechanisation was a key pillar of this strategy, with a focus on equipping cooperatives and vulnerable farming communities.

Challenges included:

  • Ensuring FAO procurement compliance within a short implementation window
  • Customising equipment to local terrain and smallholder needs
  • Providing rapid training in remote districts

Our Solution

Rapanelli Procurement was selected to deliver a compact, high-impact mechanisation package tailored to Moldova’s small-plot farming landscape.

Key Contributions:

  • Supplied tractors, harvesting equipment, and essential field implements
  • Handled international shipment, import documentation, and inland delivery
  • Deployed bilingual technical instructors for on-site training and commissioning
  • Delivered FAO-required manuals, spare parts, and training certifications

Results

  • All equipment delivered and accepted by FAO field coordinators
  • Trained 15+ farmers and cooperative managers in safe equipment operations
  • Equipment fully operational within 2 weeks of arrival
  • FAO reporting and asset-tracking documentation completed

Impact

The delivery supported Moldova’s rural resilience efforts and enhanced the productivity of small-scale farming systems. The project also reinforced FAO’s in-country partnerships with agricultural cooperatives and extension agents.

Testimonial

“Rapanelli’s technical and logistical performance was outstanding. Their local adaptability helped us meet FAO timelines precisely.”
— FAO Field Officer, Moldova
